UPS Hire & Rental Australia | Short-Term & Long-Term UPS Solutions

Temporary UPS hire for planned outages, construction sites, events and emergency cover. Single-phase and three-phase units available nationwide.

Not every situation requires a permanent UPS installation. UPS Services offers short-term and long-term UPS hire for planned maintenance windows, construction-phase temporary power, event production, emergency cover while a primary UPS is repaired, and project-based requirements where the load duration is defined and CapEx is not justified.

Our hire fleet includes single-phase units from 1kVA to 10kVA and three-phase systems from 10kVA to 200kVA. All hire units are maintained, load-tested and delivered with fresh batteries. Pricing includes delivery, connection to your distribution board or temporary supply, commissioning, and collection at the end of the hire period.

For planned outages (switchboard upgrades, generator maintenance, building power shutdowns), we coordinate the temporary UPS deployment with your facilities team and electrical contractor. The temporary system maintains battery protection for your critical load throughout the outage window, then is removed once permanent power is restored.

Frequently asked questions

5 questions answered.

Q01

What UPS sizes are available for hire?

Our hire fleet covers single-phase units from 1kVA to 10kVA (tower and rack-mount) and three-phase systems from 10kVA to 200kVA. For requirements above 200kVA, we can source larger modular systems from our supplier network, though lead times may be longer. All units are online double-conversion topology for clean, conditioned output regardless of input supply quality.

Q02

What is included in the hire price?

Standard hire pricing includes the UPS unit with fresh batteries, delivery to site, physical placement, electrical connection to your distribution board by a licensed electrician, pre-commissioning checks, walk-through handover, and collection at hire end. Consumables (replacement batteries if a hire exceeds 6 months, additional cabling) and generator fuel are charged separately if applicable.

Q03

How quickly can you deliver a hire UPS?

For common single-phase units (1kVA to 6kVA), same-day or next-business-day delivery is typically available in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne metro. Three-phase systems and larger units generally require 2 to 5 business days for transport and rigging logistics. Emergency same-day dispatch can be arranged for available stock, though we recommend booking planned outage cover at least one week in advance.

Q04

Should I hire a UPS or a generator?

A UPS provides instant, seamless switchover with no break in supply, clean conditioned power, and quiet indoor operation. A generator provides longer runtime but has a transfer gap (typically 10 to 15 seconds via ATS), requires fuel, produces noise and emissions, and needs outdoor placement. For short outages (under 4 hours) protecting IT or medical equipment, a UPS is typically the better fit. For extended outages or high-power non-sensitive loads, a generator may be more practical. We can advise on the right approach for your scenario.

Q05

Can I extend the hire period if my project runs over?

Yes. Hire extensions are available on a weekly or monthly basis at the same rate, subject to equipment availability. Let us know as early as possible if your timeline is shifting so we can reserve the unit. If the original unit is committed to another booking, we can typically substitute an equivalent or larger unit at the same rate.
